Using the Virginia Pooled Financing Program, the Orange County Broadband Authority financed the installation and connection of 125 miles of fiber optic cable. The project will ultimately provide broadband access to over 4,500 households in the county. Before the project, reliable broadband service was largely absent in Orange; improved access should improve quality of life and make the County more attractive for development. Total VRA funding to the authority was $15.8 million and secured by Broadband Authority revenues and the moral obligation of Orange County.
